Choose the application from the main menu or a submenu

Press Alt+F2 and enter the application name (skip if you don’t know
the name)

Browse the file system in file manager windows and click on the
application’s icon

Use a command line window to explore the file system until you locate
the application (or use the locate filename command)
Choosing a Color Scheme and Background
Part of configuring your Desktop is deciding what you want it to look like. In
KDE you can select one of many different background colors, wallpaper graph-
ics, and window color schemes for your graphical environment.
NOTE: The settings for your colors, screen saver, and other
information are saved in your home directory. If another user
logs in to your Linux computer and launches KDE, that user
will not use your Desktop settings. The KDE defaults apply to
each user until they are changed, and not to the computer
system as a whole.
All of the features described in this section can be configured by choosing one of
the Settings|Desktop items on the main menu, or using the Desktop section of the
Control Center (Choose KDE Control Center on the main menu). The KDE Con-
trol Center is shown in the Figures.
To select a background color:

Open the KDE Control Center from the appropriate Panel icon or by
selecting it on the KDE main menu.
